1870 PETER CARTWRIGHT. Autobiography of Revivalist, Peter Cartwright. The Backwoods Preacher. Anglican *Reflections on the Character ofOne of the liveliest preaching memoirs of the 19th century. He served, beginning in 1828, but was defeated in 1846 by, well, Abraham Lincoln. So we'll give him a pass on that.
